MEETING MINUTES

Call to Order:
Alva Kreutzer, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.
Action Items:
® There was one correction to the minutes of the August meeting. Peg Vallillo's presence at the
meeting was noted. The corrected minutes were unanimously approved following a motion to do
so by Anne Feichter, seconded by Jim Foss.
Agency Presentation:
Judy Dixon, Director of the Elk Grove Township General Assistance Department, spoke about
the services available through her agency.
Chairperson's Report:
No chairperson's report.
Coordinator's Report: Given by Beth Madden
Report included in Board packets.
Committee Reports:
Elk Grove Community Spirit Award Committee: Given by Beth Madden
The committee will meet on October 7, 1998 at 6:30 p.m. Members were reminded to
encourage others to submit nominations. The current award recipients are Ken Frey, Sharon
Chavoen, and Rich Wolf.
Volunteer Committee: Given by Anne Feichter
Because the agencies to be highlighted each month have been chosen through the end of the
year, the committee has had no recent meetings. It was suggested that the committee possibly
look at following up with the agencies to assess the success of the project.

New Business:
Coordinator's Evaluation:
Board members were presented with copies of the Coordinator's Evaluation Form. Completed
forms are due to the chairperson by 10-31-98.
Sheriff's Youth Medal of Honor:
Information was in the packets. Board members are encouraged to nominate a youth. Alva
Kreutzer will discuss the award with Elk Grove Village school principals.
Old Business:
Community Paint-A-Thon: Given by Beth Madden
Many students from the high school, as well as other people, have volunteer to help paint on 9-
19 and 9-26-98.
Handyman Directory: Given by Beth Madden
On 9-22-98, Beth Madden will present the project idea to the Village Trustees Committee of the
Whole meeting. It was decided that the new title of the project will be Property Maintenance
Directory.
Make A Difference Day: Given by Beth Madden
Copies of the agency wish list has been sent to schools, agencies, and the Greater O'Hare
Newsletter.
Community Issues:
None discussed.
Community Service Board Member Reports:
Mary Cortes informed board members about the upcoming training for the Mental Health
Community Crisis Response Team.
Anne Feichter announced that the parade date will be June 19th next year.
Announcements:
The next meeting of the Community Service Board will be Thursday, October 15, 1998 at 7:00
p.m.
Adjournment:
The meeting adjourned at 8:09 p.m. after a move to do so was made by Dick Scholten,
seconded by Jim Foss and approved by the Board.
