HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMUNITY SERVICES - 10/15/1998 - COMMUNITY SERVICES MINUTES ELK GROVE VILLAGE COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES Thursday, October 15, 199 Conference Room C - Lower Level Municipal Building Board Members Present: Board Members Absent: Alva Kreutzer Mary Hale Mary Cortes Nancy Czarnik Peg Vallillo Jim Foss Anne Feichter Paul Klevinsky Ruth Guest Sal Pace Staff Present: Mary Paliganoff Beth Madden Ed Ruszkowski Dick Scholten Call to Order: Alva Kreutzer, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Action Items: There was one correction to the minutes of the September meeting. Peg Vallillo's presence at the meeting was noted. The corrected minutes were unanimously approved following a motion to do so by Dick Scholten, seconded by Sal Pace. Agency Presentation: No agency presentation. Chairperson's Report: No chairperson's report. Coordinator's Report: Given by Beth Madden Report included in Board packets. Beth commented on the successful Paint-a-thon. Also, she is working with the Park District on the issue of raising funds for the park district scholarship program. Committee Reports: Elk Grove Community Spirit Award Committee: Given by Beth Madden Beth announced the committee resignation of Leslie DeMoss. The committee will meet on November 5, 1998 at 6:30 p.m. The current award recipients are Ken Krzywicki, Mike Cayley, The Elk Grove Women's Club, and Lois LaMaide. There are now open committee member slots available for interested parties. CSB Minutes Page two Volunteer Committee: Given by Anne Feichter The PADS site at EI Bethel Church will be the agency of the month in October. The next meeting of the committee will be to evaluate the program. Beth Madden will get copies for the agency tapes from Channel 6. New Business: Budget Committee: The committee might be called in November to begin the budget process. Elk Grove Village Clean-up Dav: Given by Beth Madden An idea of having a clean-up day for the community was discussed. This would require coordination with the Building and Engineering Departments. Other communities have done this in conjunction with Earth Day. A tentative date for the event would be April 24'n Old Business: Make A Difference Day: Given by Beth Madden Board members were asked to volunteer for the PADS walk if available. The agency wish list is getting a good response. Members discussed other projects, which are going to occur. Property Maintenance Directory: Given by Beth Madden At this time, the Village Manager has asked Beth to make some changes to the proposal prior to it going before the Board of Trustees. There was discussion regarding this and the process of presenting items to the Board of Trustees. Alva will check on this issue. Community Issues: Ruth Guest alerted the Board about another housing repair scam, which occurred with a senior of the Village Grove Apartments. Community Service Board Member Reports: Alva Kreutzer announced that the organization "Fighting Back: Communities Against Substance Abuse" has changed it's name to "Partnerships in Prevention". Announcements: The next meeting of the Community Service Board will be Thursday, November 19, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m. after a move to do so was made by Peg Vallillo, seconded by Mary Paliganoff and approved by the Board.
