Call to Order:
Alva Kreutzer, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Action Items:
There was one correction to the minutes of the February meeting. The correct date for the next
meeting was March 18, 1999. The Board unanimously approved the corrected minutes
following a motion by Ed Ruszkowski, seconded by Jim Foss.
Agency Presentation:
Nancy Carlson, Economic Development Officer for the Village, reported on the newly formed Elk
Grove Chamber of Commerce.
Chairperson's Report:
No report.
Coordinator's Report:
Report in Board packets.
Committee Reports:
Elk Grove Community Spirit Award Committee: Given by Mary Hale
Five new award recipients were chosen. There will be a meeting of the committee on April 7,
1999,
Nomination Committee: Given by Alva Kreutzer
As it is time for Board office elections, Jim Foss and Paul Klevinsky will be accepting
nominations in order to establish a ballot. Jim Foss agreed to be Vice Chairperson and Mary
• Cortes will assume the Secretary position unless other Board members wish to run for these
offices.

Volunteer Committee:
No report.
Volunteer Recognition Committee: Given by Alva Kreutzer
Alva Kreutzer, Ed Ruszkowski and Mary Paliganoff met to choose this year's recipients from six
total nominations, The chosen recipients are Pamela Scully, Marcia Hamilton and Rick
Dombrowski.
Web Page Committee: Given by Mary Cortes
An example format of the Board's Web Page was distributed to the Board. The committee
chose this format and will continue to work on the project. The committee's next meeting will be
on April 15, 1999 at 6:00 p.m.
New Business:
Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce: Given by Beth Madden
Beth suggested the Board look at ways of linking with the new Chamber. One example she gave
was to encourage Chamber businesses to offer internships. Beth will meet with Gary Parrin
regarding this issue.
Summer Activity Committee: Given by Nancy Czarnik
Nancy discussed the possibility of having a village-wide garage sale. She has done some initial
inquiry from other villages regarding this issue. Mary Hale brought up the issue of a farmers
market too. The Board felt these types of activities would promote community spirit and
enhance the community as a whole. A subcommittee was established to address these ideas.
The committee will consist of Nancy Czarnik, Mary Hale, Mary Cortes, Ed Ruszkowski and Ruth
Guest. The committee will meet on April 5I" at 6:00 p.m.
Old Business:
National Volunteer Week: Given by Alva Kreutzer
A proclamation in honor of National Volunteer Week will be made at the April 13th Board of
Trustees meeting. Perhaps next year the Board will consider doing additional activities to honor
volunteer organizations in the Village.
Workforce Development Council Scholarship Committee: Given by Beth Madden
Advertisement has begun and the applications are due April 30`". The committee will be called
to meet in May.
Trustee Liaison Report:
Nancy Czarnik reported that Mary and Stewart Hale have been chosen to be this year's parade
marshals.
