Board Members Absent: Mary Cortes Jim Foss Mary Paliganoff Dick Scholten Aline Feichter Paul Klevinsky Peg Vallillo Ruth Guest Staff Present: Mary Hale Beth Madden Sal Pace Alva Kreutzer Nancy Czarnik Tony Kees Call to Order: Alva Kreutzer called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Action Items: There were 3 corrections to the minutes of the May meeting: 1) Nancy Czarnik was present, 2)Mary Paliganoff was the Acting Chairperson, not Vice-Chairperson, and 3)The word "resigned" replaced "resign' in the Board Member Reports section. The Board unanimously approved the corrected minutes following a motion by Anne Feichter, seconded by Peg Vallillo. Agency Presentation: Marge Hart from the Sheila Ray Senior Center presented on the opportunities at the center. Chairperson's Report: Alva Kreutzer welcomed new board member, Tony Kees. The Annual Report was given to members. One correction to the report was that Anne Feichter and Paul Klevinsky were not on the Web Page Committee. Members asked that e-mail addresses also be listed on the Board roster. Coordinator's Report: Report in Board packets. Beth added that the Senior Resource Directory is completed. The Paint-a-thon has 17 applicants to date. _Committee Reports: . Elk Grove Community Spirit Award Committee: Given by Mary Hale The committee has not met this summer. The recipients enjoyed being on a special parade float. The committee will be promoting the program through Channel 6 and the Daily Herald. Summer Activities Committee: The committee will meet on July 16th at 8:00 a.m. Volunteer Committee: No report. CSB Minutes Page two New Business: Senior Exchange Program: Beth Madden presented members with information on this program, which allows seniors to reduce their taxes by volunteering at schools. She reported that-Dist. 59 participates.in the program and wanted members to be aware of it. Old Business: Workforce Development Scholarship Committee: Given by Nancy Czarnik - President Johnson reviewed the 2 scholarship applicants and thought that neither meet the criteria. The money will be saved until next year and the committee suggests the criteria be clarified. Trustee Liaison Report: Nancy Czarnik reported the Parade Committee is looking at the possibility of having a night parade. Also, the Village is planning a millennium party for Feb. 5, 2000. Tickets will.be offered. at$35 per person. Community Service Board Member Reports: Alva reported that Bill Shannon received the Senior Medal of Honor in April. She also is going to be on the Millennium Committee. Announcements: Mary Cortes reported the Police and Fire Fraternal organizations are sponsoring a charity ball on • Oct. 15, 1999. The Village Picnic will take place on July 24Th. The next meeting of the Community Service Board will be Thursday, August 19, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. After a motion by Nancy Czarnik, seconded by Mary Hale.
