HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMUNITY SERVICES - 10/21/1999 - COMMUNITY SERVICES MINUTES ELK GROVE VILLAGE COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES Thursday, October 21, 1999 Conference Room C - Lower Level Municipal Building Board Members Present: Board Members Absent: Jim Foss Nancy Czarnik Ruth Guest Anne Feichter Mary Hale Alva Kreutzer Tony Kees Sal Pace Paul Klevinsky Mary Paliganoff Peg Vallillo Dick Scholten Staff: Beth Madden Call to Order: Jim Foss, Vice-Chairperson called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. No correction of the September minutes was needed. A move to approve the minutes was made by Tony Kees and seconded by Ruth Guest. Agency Presentation: None. Chairperson's Report: None. Coordinator's Report: Report in Board packets. Committee Reports: Elk Grove Community Spirit Award Committee: Given by Mary Hale The latest recipients of the Spirit Award were Dick Borganza and Ed May. The next meeting of the Award Committee will be October 271" Summer Activities Committee: Given by Mary Hale A Community-Wide Garage Sale will be held on the weekend after Mothers Day on May 20, 2000 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The next meeting of the Committee will be held after the 1st of the New Year. Volunteer Committee: No report. CSB Minutes Page two New Business: None. Old Business: Beth Madden announced that on Make-a-Difference-Day, registration for the PADS Walk will be at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 1999 with the walk starting at 8:30 a.m. The response to MADD wish lists has been poor. Ruth Guest announced that the Senior Complex will hold a rummage and bake sale on Saturday with the proceeds being given to the scholarship fund at Elk Grove High School. Announcements: Ruth Guest reported that Elaine Bond of Elk Grove High School has instituted an "Adopt a Grandparent" program which pairs students with residents of the Village Grove Senior Complex. It has proven to be popular with both the students and seniors. The next meeting of the Community Service Board will be Thursday, November 18, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. Ad]ournment: The meeting adjourned at 7:29 p.m. after a motion to do so by Mary Hale and seconded by Ruth Guest.
