Coordinator's Report: Given by Beverly Jaszczurowski
Beverly's full report is included in the packet. Beverly announced the Senior Provider
Council is organizing the Senior Fair at the Sheila Ray Senior Center on Saturday,
August 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Senior Resource Handbook is being
updated. The village Paint-a-thon will be held on September 8`h. The PADS walk for
Christus Victor Lutheran Church will be held on September 15. Make-a-Difference-Day
is Saturday, October 27h. This year's event will raise money for WINGS, an emergency
shelter for women that is trying to open a location in Rolling Meadows to serve victims
of domestic violence in the northwest suburbs.
Committee Reports:
Farmer's Market: Given by Nancy Czarnik
The market is doing much better than last year. The vendors are getting interested in Elk
Grove Village now. The new location in front of the Pavilion is a great success.
Volunteers are needed to help with questions between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Another
sign announcing the Farmer's Market is needed on Wellington.
Volunteer Committee:
Scheduled to be highlighted on Channel 6 in August are WINGS and the Children's
Advocacy Center.
Spirit Committee: Given by Mary Hale
The Community Spirit Committee won first place in the Governor's Hometown Award.
Community Spirit will have an exhibit in the glass display case at the Elk Grove Village
Public Library for the entire month of August.
Garage Sale Committee: Given by Beverly Jaszczurowski
The village garage sale on May 19 included 43 homes, only two located west of route 53.
There were fewer homes than last year, but the majority of those providing feedback said
they had more foot traffic this year. The committee will need to review the results and
determine,if this event should continue next year.
Web Committee: No report. A new meeting will be scheduled.
New Business:
The new officers of the Community Service Board are:
Jim Foss, President; Anne Feichter, Vice-President; Teresa Anesinis, Secretary.
Beverly reported that several vacancies existed on the Community Service Board
Subcommittees. The Board decided to discontinue the Newcomers subcommittee.
Members will decide at the August Board meeting what committees they want to
participate on.
Trustee Report: Given by Nancy Czarnik
The Village Hoe Down will be held on September 81h on the Village Green. The $20.00
ticket pays for food and dancing.
Board Members Reports:
Jim Foss reported that the movie program at the Elk Grove Cinema is doing well. The
$1.00 fee pays for a movie every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. until the program's end in
August. This fee pays the cost of running the films.
