Beverly's full report is included in the packet. Beverly provided the attendees with an
updated list of the names and addresses of the members of the Community Service
Board. She reviewed the membership and the purpose of each subcommittee, reading
from an updated list prepared after the discussion at the July 19 meeting. The now list is
included in the packet.
Committee Reports:
Farmer's Market: Given by Tony Kees
The market is good. It is better than last year. There is a steady flow of people at the
market. Library Day on August 15 was a success. Geneva Cookery is scheduled for the
next event day on August 29.
Volunteer Committee: Given by Beverly Jaszczurowski
Scheduled to be highlighted on Channel 6 in August is the Children's Advocacy Center,
then in September the Harbour, a girls home, and in October Channel 6 will highlight
Northwest CASA.
Spirit Committee: Given by Beverly Jaszczurowski
Community Spirit will have an exhibit in the glass display case at the Elk Grove Village
Public Library during the months of September and October. Committee members are
currently working on display items.
Web Committee: There was a brief meeting to discuss the redesign of the Community
Service web site. This design concept will be submitted for approval to Assistant Village
Manager Ray Rummel.
MADD Committee: Given by Beverly Jaszczurowski
No report. The committee will schedule a meeting soon. The PADS walk is Saturday,
September 15. Beverly is appearing on Koffee Klatch to discuss the PADS walk.
New Business:
Fred Hossfeld inquired about a food drive to restock the food pantry. Beverly explained
that recently there has been a huge increase in the number of clients at the food pantry,
due to layoffs. However, there was a good response to recent publicity about the food
pantry in the local newspapers. There was also a discussion about food storage methods
for the food pantry.
Beverly Jaszczurowski suggested a retreat for the Community Service Board, facilitated
by the Executive Service Corporation. This is similar to a workshop that Beverly
attended with Mary Hale in March. The retreat could be scheduled for a Saturday in
November, perhaps lasting four hours. Beverly suggested that Village Manager Gary
Parrin might provide assistance with the arrangements for this event. Desmond Raftery
made a motion to proceed with the planning for this retreat. The motion was seconded by
Stacey Bechtold. It was approved by a unanimous voice vote.
Trustee Report:
No report.
