MEETING MINUTES

Call to Order:
Arnie Feichter, acting chairperson, called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.
® Action Items:
The minutes from the November 15, 2001 meeting were approved after a motion by Tony
Kees and a second by Stacey Bechtold.
Special Guest:
The Community Service Board viewed a presentation by volunteers from Friends Animal
Assisted Therapy. Three dogs, April, Tristan and Hooch, along with their leaders Nancy
and Judy, represented the 25 teams of dogs and leaders in the program. This organization
provides intervention therapy in a variety of locations, including nursing homes, hospitals
and juvenile court.
Coordinator's Report: Given by Beverly Jaszczurowski
Beverly's full report is included in the packet. The Salvation Army Red Kettle bell ringing
in Elk Grove Village collected $4276.00 during the holiday season. This was the most
money raised without corporate sponsorship. Pizza Hut is providing a food donation of
pre-cooked, frozen pizzas twice a week. Community Service delivers these pizzas to the
food pantry, also sharing some with Elk Grove Township and the day care center.
Committee Reports:
Volunteer Committee: Given by Anne Feichter
Friends Animal Assisted Therapy will be promoted on Channel 6 for the volunteer
opportunity during the month of February.
® Community Spirit Committee: Given by Jim Morrill
The December meeting continued to review the teen award program. Several names for
awards are being considered. The teens will run this program, with the assistance of a
coordinator or supervisor at the high school.
Web Committee: Given by Jim Morrill
The Community Service Board web site has been updated. Membership of the
Community Service Board is listed under the Boards and Commissions section of the Elk
Grove Village site. Activities are listed under the Community Service Department.
Bylaws Committee: Given by Stacey Bechtold
The committee is making progress in reviewing and updating the bylaws of the
Community Service Board. The tentative date is March for bringing the updated bylaws
to the Board.
New Business:
Beverly Jaszczurowski distributed an updated directory for the Community Service Board
of Directors.
Old Business:
None.
• Trustee Report: Given by Nancy Czarnik
The next Blood Drive is Saturday, January 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 at the Village Hall.
The parade will be Saturday night, June 15, with fireworks after the parade. The Sister
City Committee has a tentative date in September, 2002 for their trip to Italy. Elk Grove
Village is hosting the state convention of the Sister City organization in April, 2003.
Board Members Report:
Tony Kees reported that February 24 is the date for the Elk Grove Interfaith Council
concert at Elk Grove High School that benefits the Elk Grove Housing Fund.
Announcement:
The next Community Service Board meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February
21, 2002 in Conference Room C in the Lower Level of the Municipal Building (Village
Hall).

A motion for adjournment was made by Jim Morrill and seconded by Mary Paliganoff.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
