Call to Order:
Jim Foss, president, called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.
® Action Items:
The minutes from the March 20, 2002 meeting were approved after a motion by Tony
Kees and a second by Peg Vallillo.
Coordinator's Report:
No report.
Committee Reports:
Volunteer Committee: Given by Anne Feichter
The volunteer opportunity promoted for the month of May will be all services provided at
the Kenneth Young Center.
Community Spirit Committee: Given by Jim Morrill
The committee met earlier today and continued to review the youth spirit award. In early
May the youth award winner will appear on Teen Koffee Klatch. Laurie Miller is the
Community Spirit Award winner for May in the adult category. The committee continues
to seek more adult and youth members, including two youths from each school.
Community Spirit wants to be represented at the Farmer's Market Service Day and plans
to appear in the village parade. The next meeting is scheduled for May 1 at 6:30 p.m.

Asch Web Committee: Given by Jim Morrill
No report.
BY-laws Committee: Given by Beth Thompson
No report. No activity is planned until Beverly Jaszczurowski returns on May 6.
New Business:
Des Raftery is working with AT&T to present a 30 minute segment on channel 3, viewed
by the entire area. The program will be divided between English language(15 minutes)
and Spanish language (15 minutes). It will be identified as originating in Elk Grove
Village. Details of the program structure are still being discussed.
Old Business:
Nancy Czarnik attended the award ceremony earlier today for the Sheriffs Medal of
Honor winner, William Healy. The ceremony was held in the Grand Army of the Republic
Hall of the Cultural Arts Center in Chicago.
Trustee Report: Given by Nancy Czarnik
The United Way Iuncheon will be April 30 in the conference center at Alexian Brothers.
The village parade is Saturday, June 15 at 8:00 p.m. There is no deadline for applications.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the parade and keep the children safe. Jim Morrill
and Peg Vallillo volunteered to provide this assistance.
Board Members Report:
Jim Morrill learned about telephone number 211 while visiting central Wisconsin. This is
used for local health and community services. It is reserved for this function nationwide.
Jim suggested this could be introduced in Elk Grove Village. More research is required.
Nancy Czarnik reported that the Farmer's Market begins on June 12 this year. There will
be event days, similar to last year. Arrangements are being made to provide coffee and
water to customers ($.50) and vendors (free). Volunteers are requested for this service.
Announcement:
The next Community Service Board meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15,
2002 in Conference Room B in the Lower Level of the Municipal Building (Village Hall).
Adiournment:
A motion for adjournment was made by Tony Kees and seconded by Jim Foss. The
meeting was adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
