Call to Order:
® Jim Foss, president, called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.
Action Items:
The minutes from the April 17, 2002 meeting were approved after a motion by Jim Morrill
and a second by Peg Vallillo.
Coordinator's Report: Given by Jim Foss, from the report prepared by Marty Vela.
The featured volunteer agency for May is the Kenneth Young Center. Information will be
on display at the library. There is no agency selected for the month of June. Marty
attended the United Way Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on April 30 at Alexian
Brothers. Super Kmart approached the Elk Grove Village Police Department about
donating new bicycles to needy children of village residents. Ten bicycles were given to
Community Service on May 6. Community Service received $200 in Jewel food
certificates from the Elk Grove Lioness Club on May 13. Marty is scheduled to attend the
Emergency Operation Center (EOC) training on May 16 and May 21. She continues to
deliver pizzas from Pizza Hut to the food pantry.
Committee Reports:
Volunteer Committee: Given by Anne Feichter
Mary Hale, Peg Vallillo and Anne Feichter will schedule a meeting soon.

Community Spirit Committee: Given by Jim Morrill
The Elk Grove Village Police Department is forming a Character Counts award program
that is similar to the Community Spirit award program. At a recent meeting Police
Department and Community Spirit representatives discussed these programs. The next
meeting of the Community Spirit Committee is scheduled for May 22 at 5:30 p.m.

Bylaws Committee: None
Farmer's Market Committee: Given by Tony Kees
The first event day will be a coloring day. The children's artwork will be displayed on
June 12 and June 19. The next event day is June 26, with the Elk�Grove Chamber.
Old Business:
Des Raftery spoke to the courtdistrictabout.preparing a 15.minute.program in Spanish on
the subject of domestic violence. Des will give this to Assistant Village Manager Ray
Rummel for the-Information Committee.. This 15-minute program can-be presented by
AT&T (cable system) to all northwest suburbs.
Trustee Report: Given by Nancy Czarnik
The Personnel Committee will interview candidates for Community Service Coordinator,
replacing Beverly Jaszczurowski, who resigned from this position in May.
Board Members Report:
_Mary Hale reported the date for the PADS-.walk is October 5. The Community Service
Board helped with this event in the past. Make A Difference Day is October 26. Nancy
Czarnik reported that volunteers are still needed for the.parade on June 15.
The new officers of the Community Service Board for 2002 - 2003 are Mary Hale,
President,-Anne Feichter, Vice-President.and Teresa Anesinis,-Secretary.
Announcement:
There is.no,meeting in.June. The.next Community Service Board.meeting will be at 7:00
p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2002 in Conference Room C in the Lower Level of the
'Municipal Building(Village Hall).
Adiournment:
A motion for adjournment was made by Jim Foss and seconded by Nancy Czarnik. The
meeting was adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
