• The minutes from the September 19, 2002 meeting were reviewed. The Spirit Award winner for
March was Tom Ritondale, not Don Ritondale. The minutes were approved as amended after a
motion by Jim Foss and a second by Jim Morrill.
Coordinator's Report: Given by Linda Blair
The full report is included in the packet. Linda suggested changing the format of the service
report prepared for the Community Service Board. The statistics at the top of the report would
remain, but the activities report at the bottom would be eliminated. Jim Morrill made a motion to
eliminate the activities report.
Committee Reports:
Community Spirit Committee: Given by Jim Morrill
The Spirit Award winner appearing on Channel 6 in October is Pepsi Americas. There is no
meeting scheduled. The Committee received two nominations from Character Counts.
Farmer's Market Committee: Given by Teresa Anesinis &Peg Vallillo
The last day for the Farmer's Market was October 9. Coffee provided to the vendors was very
popular this year. The Committee met October 14 to review feedback from the vendors. It was
decided not to extend the Market to the end of October in 2003, due to concerns about the
weather. The Market will begin one week earlier in June, then end on October 8. The Committee
is considering moving the location of the Market across from the Clock Tower in the Pavilion
® parking lot. This will allow room for growth, as more vendors are attracted to the Market. Signs
and publicity for the Market continue to be concerns. One possibility is using the sign at Elk
Grove High School and the electric sign near the Rose Garden restaurant to promote the Farmer's
Market. Reporting in the Daily Herald and Elk Grove Times newspapers, along with features on
Channel 6, provided good publicity about the Market in 2002.
HADD Committee: Given by Jim Morrill
Final arrangements are in progress for Make A Difference Day, Saturday, October 26.
Dominick'&is-now the only dropoffpoint.for the donations ofipaper..goods. The Community

A calendar of events for October/November 2002 was distributed. Mary Hale suggested the
calendar needs more input. Perhaps programs appearing on Channel 6 or programs offered at the
hospital can be listed on this calendar. Please forward event information to Teresa Anesinis.
