Call to Order:
Linda Blair, Community Service Coordinator, called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Action Items:
® The minutes from the October meeting were reviewed. They will be approved at the January
meeting, because there was no quorum present at the November meeting.
Coordinator's Report: Given by Linda Blair
Linda Blair reported the Community Service office used $1100.00 in Salvation Army funds in one
month. Elk Grove Village received $11, 888.00 for the year. The remaining balance is $5000.00.
Food pantry usage has skyrocketed in the last two months. Thanksgiving baskets will be
distributed to 30 families and 8 seniors. Bell ringing will be scheduled on 3 weekends this year,
on Friday and Saturday, December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20.
The Mission Statement of the Community Service Board was reviewed by Jim Morrill and Linda
Blair. It will be reviewed by the Board members at the January meeting. The need to review the
Community Service Board By-laws will be discussed at the January meeting. The By-laws
Committee is a standing committee of the Community Service Board. There will be a holiday
party at Peg Vallillo's home on December 18.
Make A Difference Day (MADD) Committee:
The MADD paper drive on Saturday, October 25 was a good effort. Alexian Brothers staff
brought boxes of donations collected at the hospital.. Nothing was collected at the remote
locations around the village. One suggestion for next year's project is to collect and distribute
children's car seats. Perhaps the Elk Grove Village police can check if these seats are installed
and fastened properly in the vehicles of village residents.
Community Suggestion Box:
The Community Suggestion Box should be in Village Hall, the Pavilion, the Public Library and
the Senior Center by mid-December. Mike Tuozzo will gather the completed suggestion cards
from each location.
Trustee Report: Given by Nancy Czarnik
The 5& anniversary committee, planning for the 501h anniversary of Elk Grove Village, will meet
in January. There will be many subcommittees, planning something for every month.
Community Spirit Committee:
No report.
Announcement:
The next Community Service Board meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2004
in Conference Room C in the Lower Level of the Municipal Building (Village Hall).
Adjournment:
A motion for adjournment was made by Mary Paliganoff and seconded by Nancy Czarnik. The
meeting was adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by,
Teresa Anesinis, Secretary
