HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMMUNITY SERVICES - 01/15/2004 - COMMUNITY SERVICES MINUTES ELK GROVE VILLAGE COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES Thursday, January 15, 2004 Conference Room C - Lower Level, Municipal Building Board Members Present: Board Members Absent: Teresa Anesinis Jim Foss Ryan Bookler Fred Hossfeld Nancy Czarnik Anne Feichter James Morrill Mary Paliganoff Staff Present Desmond Raftery Linda Blair Mike Tuozzo Michael Cavallini Peg Vallillo Call to Order: Jim Morrill, president, called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Action Items: The minutes from the October 16, 2003 meeting were approved after a motion by Peg Vallillo and a second by Nancy Czarnik. The minutes from the November 20, 2003 meeting were approved after a motion by Mary Pahganoff and a second by Des Raftery. Coordinator's Report: Given by Linda Blair Linda Blair reported the Christmas Adopt-a-Family program served 38 families, along with 15 seniors from Village Grove and Landmeier Station. Two corporate donors, DC Imports and Installation Specialists, assisted the program this year. Salvation Army bell ringing raised over $4000. This was $782 more than last year. Elk Grove Village receives 40% of this money. By-laws Committee: Given by Mary Paliganoff Committee members Mary Paliganoff(Chairperson), Jim Morrill and Teresa Anesinis will meet with Linda Blair to review the Community Service Board By-taws. The committee will consider changes to the amount of meetings held and a different way to view the issue of a quorum. Any suggestions for changes to the by-laws will be reviewed with all Community Service Board members. Trustee Report: Given by Nancy Czarnik The 50`h Anniversary Committee, planning for the 50`h Anniversary of Elk Grove Village, will meet in February. The deadline is January 31 for submitting names for the Sheriff's Award, presented in April. ® CSB Minutes Pagetwo New Business: There was a general discussion of methods to honor volunteers. Consideration will be given to honoring volunteers annually at a dinner, or having a luncheon for volunteers, or an evening coffee. There is a need to rethink volunteer recognition. Channel 6 could feature a volunteer organization each month. Linda Blair will discuss this with Channel 6 and report to the Community Service Board at the February meeting. Board Members Report: Anne Feichter reported that February 24, from 10:00 to 3:00, will be an Antiques Appraisal at the Sheila Ray Senior Center. The cost is$5 per item, with a limit of 4 items per person. Linda Blair reported that February 29 is the Village Voices Concert at the Elk Grove High School Auditorium. This concert benefits the Elk Grove Village Housing Fund. Announcement The next Community Service Board meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2004 in Conference Room C in the Lower Level of the Municipal Building (Village Hall). • Adjournment: A motion for adjournment was made by Mary Paliganoffand seconded by Peg Vallillo.
