Coordinator's Report: Given by Michael Cavallini Money is running low in the EG Housing Fund, so the amount of assistance offered will be limited to the Salvation Army alone. There is a large need by residents for utility bills to be paid. The 2004-2005 Salvation Army budget is $13,339.36, which is more than expected. Linda has partnered up with a company called Charitable Recycling of Michigan to take any cell phones that are donated to the Village as part of the Make A Difference Day program last October. Their web site is www.charitablerecycling.com Thank you letters have been prepared to give to organizations that house a Community Service Board Suggestion Box. Offering permanent food pantry drop off places was discussed. There will be more information to come at the next meeting. ® Some make a difference day websites include... www.usaweekend.com/diffday www.diffday(( usaweekend.com www makeadifferenyom ® CSB Minutes Page two New Business: Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 23, planning was brought up again. There has been some difficulty finding volunteers for this day. President Morrill suggested that the board has had a hard time getting volunteers from other organizations since they have prior commitments (i.e. Girl Scout cookie sales). Mary Paliganoff made a motion to get volunteers for MDD, which was seconded by Peg Vallillo. The Community Service office will put out a bulletin to groups in an effort to solicit volunteers for Make a Difference Day and beyond. Mike Tuozzo has agreed to advertise the event on Channel 6. Board members will come to the next meeting with ideas for the Channel 6 commercial. Members also agreed to try to find volunteers. Mary Paliganoff brought up potential liability issues with sponsoring programs to allow volunteers to help repair houses. One possible MDD project is to help clean up/repair houses cited by the Village. However, there was a privacy concern as to being able to access the list of houses cited by the Village, so we discussed alternative ways (Village newsletter, word of mouth, eyesores, etc.)to assist residents with projects in the Village. ® Committee Reports: Suggestion Box: Given by Mike Tuozzo Mike read suggestions gathered from the different box locations throughout the Village. He will continue to respond to the cards or give them to the appropriate department. Teresa Anesinis moved the library suggestion box, therefore increasing the number of responses. Trustee Liaison Report: Given by Trustee Nancy Czarnik Georgia Landt has put an application in to join the EG Community Service Board. Announcements: The next Community Service Board meeting will be on Thursday, August 19, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. in Room "C" at the Village Hall.
