The Easter Basket distribution is taking place. There are 29 families that have been

donated some gift certificates.

will meet with the volunteer liaison at Alexian Brothers to try and reintroduce a pool of
young people that could be called upon to shovel snow and complete other jobs for
people.

too quick for WINGS to get involved with the event scheduled for Sunday, but they

The Jaycees will not be publishing a phone book, but Linda and the Board thought that
the information in the front of the book is an important resource that the community still
needs.
Someone suggested on a comment card including information in the phone book a.
summary of laws such as times cars are allowed to be parked in the street.
Georgia thought that this information could be included in the Shop Elk Grove Book that
goes out every year. It was suggested that information could be included in the Welcome
Packet received from the Water Department. Georgia thought that this would be a good
idea, but the information would only get to new homeowners. The Board will continue to
research this idea.
New Business:
Linda read the nomination forms for the Volunteer of the Year award. The Board
decided on the winner.
The Board discussed ways to promote nominees for the award in the future.
Georgia brought up the idea of doing something in the Village to recognize Elk Grove
soldiers who were killed in the war. Mr. Arey from Elk Grove High School wants to put
the names of the soldiers on a peace pole. Some Board members thought a banner would
be nice to put up to recognize soldiers. The Board will continue to look at this issue and
offer suggestions as how to recognize soldiers from Elk Grove Village that are serving
our country.
Linda will attempt to find a list of soldiers serving in the military.
Community Service will be the featured month for December 2006 as part of the 50'h
Anniversary Calendar.
Old Business:
Vice-President Tuozzo brought up the idea of having a booth at Rotary Fest to promote
the Community Service Board. Linda will look into setting up a booth.
An Eagle Scout is growing food to raise money from the homeless.
