MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON MAY 21,2013
Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building,
901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following
members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke,
Commissioner Michael Kontek.
It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the
minutes of April 11, 2013 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with
the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman
Shapiro declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Stanard & Associates, Inc., Invioce SA 22594 dated 4/26/2013 in the amount of
10,916.98. This is invoice two of two for remaining expenses associated with Fire
Lieutenant Promotional Process.
2. Independent Stationers, Invoice 300571 dated 04/30/2013 in the amount of$224.16 for
miscellaneous office supplies.
3. Belvedere Banquets, Deposit of$150.00 made on 5/9/2013 for room rental fee.
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded by Commissioner Kontek that the
Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment. The motion was voted upon by
acclamation whereupon the Chairman declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Notce of Resignation from Police Officer Brandy Forgue effective May 15, 2013.
2. Written Reprimand issued by Chief Schmidt to Police Officer for violating Rules
and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section 26.1.1A, Rules
of Conduct, Rule 1 (Violation of any law, ordinance, or Department General Order;
Incompetence or Inefficiency in the Performance of Duty.
3. Memo from Village Manager advising the Commission to assess a $45.00 applicant
fee for our upcoming firefighter testing process.
4. Entered into contract agreement with Belvedere Events & Banquets to provide
reception room for firefighter written examination and orientation on Saturday,
August 24, 2013.

OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussed Police Officer hiring process.
2. Discussed Firefighter hiring process.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Fire Lieutenant Promotional Process—Final Eligibility List was posted on May 6,
2013.
ELIGIBILITY LIST/HIRING STATUS
1, Police Officer—Two names remain on the final eligibility list published on January
16, 2012, One hundred ninety two names remain on the preliminary eligibility list
scheduled to expire on January 16, 2014.
2. Firefighter—Eligibility list expired on January 7, 2013. Examination date has been
set for August 24,2013 and we are in the process of preparing notices and
advertisements.
3. Police Sergeant—Four names appear on the eligibility list which will expire on April
20, 2015.
4. Fire Lieutenant—Eight names appear on the eligibility list which will expire on May
6, 2015.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Chairman Shapiro that the meeting be
adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro
declared the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
