HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 03/11/2014 - FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION MINUTES c: Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON MARCH 11, 2014 Chairman Shapiro called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the following members were present: Chairman Alan J. Shapiro DDS, Secretary E. Butch Ehrke, Commissioner Michael Kontek. It was moved by Commissioner Kontek and seconded by Commissioner Ehrke that the minutes of February 18, 2014 meeting be approved as submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES 1. None. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Memo from Chief Mikel advising that FF Matthew Bonilla will be promoted to the rank of Fire Lieutenant effective March 17, 2014. 2. Memo from Chief Mikel advising that Fire Lieutenant Michael Sharp will be promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief effective March 17, 2014. OLD BUSINESS 1. Discussed Police Officer hiring process. Meeting with Chief Schmidt to discuss applicant requriements and the testing process. 2. Discussed Firefighter hiring process. Meeting with Chief Mikel to discuss staffing and candidate status. NEW BUSINESS 1. Meeting with Lory Special of Stanard and Associates to discuss Police Officer Selection Test, additional supplemental tests and other details for our April 13th written examination at Elk Grove High School. ELIGIBILITY LIST /HIRING STATUS 1. Police Officer—Eligibility list is expired. New testing process to commence on April 13, 2014. Minutes of the Regular Meeting March 11,2014 Page I of 2 2. Firefighter—Twenty-eight names remain on the eligibility list scheduled to expire on September 20, 2015. 3. Police Sergeant—Two names remain on the eligibility list which will expire on April 20, 2015. 4. Fire Lieutenant— Six names remain on the eligibility list which will expire on May 6, 2015. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Ehrke and seconded Chairman Shapiro that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Shapiro declared the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m. R ge 111y submitted, E.
