MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON OCTOBER 20, 2015
Chairman E. Butch Ehrke called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the
following members were present: Chainman E. Butch Ehrke, Secretary Michael Kontek and
Commissioner Dion Zinnel. Guests present: None.
Secretary Kontek moved that the minutes of the September 15, 2015 meeting be approved as
submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. Commissioner Zinnel
seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Elirke
declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Invoice 5009 dated 9/28/2015 in the amount of$150.00 from Theodore Polygraph
Service for polygraph examination of police candidate (Hendrickson).
2. Invoice 585437 dated 10/2/15 in the amount of$478.00 from Advocate Occupational
Health for medical evaluation of police candidate (Hendrickson).
3. Invoice dated 9/30/2015 in the amount of$59.50 from Illinois State Police for
fingerprint identification checks on firefighter candidates (Jensen/Rittenhouse).
4. Invoice from Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Association dated 10/1/2015 in the
amount of$375.00 for annual membership dues.
Commissioner Zinnel moved that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment.
Secretary Kontek seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon
Chairman Elarke declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. Written Reprimand dated September 22, 2015 to Police Officer for violating Rules and
Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section IV, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 46 (Failure to operate a Village vehicle in a safe and prudent manner or
to obey related traffic laws.
2. Written Reprimand dated September 22, 2015 to Police Officer for violating Rules and
Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section IV, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 33 (Failure to be prmpt for duty assignment including roll call and
court appearance).
3. Notice of Suspension dated September 24, 2015 to Police Officer for violating Rules
and Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section IV, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 1 I (Inefficiency in the Performance of Duty. One day suspension to be
served on Friday, October 9, 2015.

4. Retirement letter from Sgt. James P. Kennedy effective November 18, 2015 after 25-
1/2 years of dedicated service.
OLD BUSINESS
1. None
NEW BUSINESS
1. Fire Lieutenant Promotional Process— Written Examination to be administered by
Stanard and Associates this evening.
ELIGIBILITY LIST
1. Police Sergeant — There are seven names on the list scheduled to expire on July 7,
2018.
2. Firefighter— Eligibility list containing 125 names will expire on September 14, 2017.
3. Fire Lieutenant—New promotional process in progress. Three names remain on the
eligibility list which is scheduled to expire on November 6, 2015.
4. Police Officer - Eleven names remain on the final eligibility list scheduled to expire on
June 27, 2016; 75 names remain on the preliminary eligibility list.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Zinnel and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke
declared the motion carried. Meeting adjourned 6:30 p.m.
