MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2015
Chairman E. Butch Ehrke called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the
following members were present: Chairman E. Butch Ehrke, Secretary Michael Kontek and
Commissioner Dion Zinnel. Guests present: None.
Secretary Kontek moved that the minutes of the August 18, 2015 meeting be approved as
submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. Commissioner Zinnel
seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke
declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Invoice SA000029244 from Stanard and Associates dated 08/31/2015 in the amount of
$790.00 for personality evaluations for two police officer candidates (Kappos,
Petrouski).
2. Invoice C35051A dated 9/11/2015 from 1/0 Solutions in the amount of$1879.00 for
administration of our firefighter testing process (applicant processing, written
examination administration/proctoring, and compilation of final eligibility list).
3. Invoice 579282 from Advocate Occupational Health dated 08/31/15 in the amount of
$1434.00 for medical evaluations for three police officer candidates (Mironov, Guzik,
Petrouski).
4. Invoice SA000028775 dated 06/30/2015 from Stanard and Associates in the amount of
$1185.00 for personality evaluations for three firefighter candidates (B. Johnson,
Beyer, Schlott).
Commissioner Zinnel moved that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment.
Secretary Kontek seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon
Chairman Ehrke declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
I. Memo from Chief Schmidt regarding the six-month performance of Probationary
Police Officers M. Machnik, C. Palmese, J. Swoboda and B. Neuman.
2. Written Reprimand dated September 9, 2015 to Police Officer for violating Rules and
Regulations of the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Section IV, Rules of
Conduct, Rule 33 (Failure to be prompt for duty assignment including roll call and
court appearance).
3. Retirement letter from Firefighter Thomas Reinhardt effective September 24, 2015.

1. None
NEW BUSINESS
1. Reviewed and discussed Fire Department supervisory staff comments regarding the six
month performance of probationary Firefighter Brian McConville. Conducted FF
McConville's six month probationary review.
2. Reviewed and discussed Fire Department supervisory staff comments regarding the
one year performance of probationary Firefighter Christopher Polich. Conducted FF
Polich's final probationary review and granted permanent employee status.
3. Conducted two individual oral interviews for police officer candidates (Petrouski,
Kappos).
ELIGIBILITY LIST
1. Police Sergeant—There are seven names on the list created on July 7, 2015.
2. Firefighter — New final eligibility list containing 125 names was created and will
expire on September 14, 2017.
3. Fire Lieutenant New promotional process in progress. Three names remain on the
eligibility list which is scheduled to expire on November 6, 2015.
4. Police Officer - Eleven names remain on the final eligibility list scheduled to expire on
June 27, 2016; 75 names remain on the preliminary eligibility list.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Zinnel and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the meeting
be adjourned. The motion was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke
declared the motion carried. Meeting adjourned 6:30 p.m.
