MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS
OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
HELD ON JUNE 16, 2015
Chairman E. Butch Ehrke called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Charles J. Zettek
Building, 901 Wellington Avenue, Elk Grove Village, and noted for the record that the
following members were present: Secretary Michael Kontek and Commissioner Dion Zinnel.
Guests present: Chief Richard Mikel and Chief Stephen Schmidt.
Secretary Kontek moved that the minutes of the May 19, 2015 meeting be approved as
submitted and that the Board dispense with the reading thereof. Commissioner Zinnel
seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Eln-ke
declared the motion carried.
PRESENTATION AND APPROVAL OF INVOICES
1. Invoice SA000028491 from Stanard & Associates dated 5/29/15 in the amount of
$6788.10 for the fire lieutenant promotional process (written exam development and
assessment center development).
2. Invoice SA000028370 from Stanard and Associates dated 5/21/15 in the amount of
$395.00 for psychological evaluation of firefighter candidate (Galarza).
3. Invoice 4869 from Theodore Polygraph Service dated 5/29/15 in the amount of
$300.00 for polygraph evaluation of two firefighter candidates (Schlott and Beyer).
4. Invoice 570401 dated 6/2/2015 in the amount of 1425.00 for medical evaluations for
three firefighter candidates (Beyer, Schlott and B. Johnson).
5. Invoice 570726 dated 6/2/2015 in the amount of$475.00 for medical evaluation for
one firefighter candidate (Galarza).
Commissioner Zinnel moved that the Board authorize the disbursement of funds for payment.
Secretary Kontek seconded the motion. It was voted upon by acclamation whereupon
Chairman Ehrke declared the motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE
1. 21 May 2015 Memo from Chief Schmidt advising that Probationary Police Officer
Eric Moore resigned effective 05/31/2015.
2. 08 ,Tune 2015 Memo from Chief Schmidt regarding the six month performance of
probationary police officers Guther, Molloy and M. Johnson.
3. 27 May 2015 Memo to FIR Director advising that Firefighter Joseph Thompson and
Firefighter Brian Gumprecht have satisfactorily completed their probationary period
and are appointed to the permanent position of Firefighter effective 05/19/2015.
4. Appointment letters to four new firefighters advising them to report for work on
06 July 2015 (Galarza, Beyer, Schlott and B. Johnson).

OLD BUSINESS
1. Meeting with Chief Mikel to discuss status of hiring process and new entry firefighter
testing process.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Meeting with Chief Schmidt to discuss the Police Sergeant Promotional Process and
status of police officer candidates.
ELIGIBILITY LIST
I. Police Sergeant— List expired.
2. Firefighter — List is exhausted. Written examination will be scheduled for August 8,
2015.
3. Fire Lieutenant - Four names remain on the eligibility list which is scheduled to expire
on November 6, 2015.
4. Police Officer - Twenty-one names remain on the final eligibility list scheduled to
expire on ,lune 27, 2016.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
It was moved by Commissioner Zinnel and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the
Commission adjourn to Executive Session to discuss personnel matters. The motion was
voted upon by acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke declared the motion carried.
1. Conducted six month probationary reviews for three police officers (Molloy, M.
Johnson, Guther).
2, Conducted ten individual oral interviews for police sergeant candidates (Rohman,
Torres, Berens, Carlson, Mosqueda, Gottwald, Maglio, Bazukas, S. Garrison,
Kowalczyk).
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Commissioner Zinnel and seconded Commissioner Kontek that the
executive session and regular meeting be adjourned. The (notion was voted upon by
acclamation whereupon Chairman Ehrke declared the motion carried. Meeting adjourned
9:00 P.M.
