HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIRE & POLICE COMMISSION - 08/14/2018MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE HELD ON AUGUST 14TH, 2018 Approval of Minutes Minutes for 6-19-2018 – The minutes for 6-19-2018 were approved. Invoices for Approval Invoice #6190 for Theodore Polygraph Services for 2 Polygraph Exams dated 6/25/2018 in the amount of $350. Invoice #1903 for Advocate Occupation Health for 3 Medical Exams dated 07/2/2018 in the amount of $1076 Invoice # 64187 for DLS Custom Embroidery for Commissioner Uniforms dated 7/12/2018 in the amount of $59 Invoice #6232 for Theodore Polygraph Services for 3 Polygraph Exams dated 7/30/2018 in the amount of 525 All invoices were approved. Correspondence None Old Business 1. Update on the Police Department Vacancies – There are 5 vacant police positions, and 5 candidates who will have IOI’s in executive session. If candidates pass their interviews, the anticipated start date will be 9-12-2018. 2. Background Reviews – The commissioners reviewed backgrounds of candidates. 3. Police Written Exam Update – The date for the Police written exam is set for November 18th, 2018 at EGVHS. The exam will take place from 8:00am – 12:00pm. New Business 1. Rate increase for psych testing – The commissioners agreed to pay a slight rate increase for Dr. Friedman’s services contingent that it takes place in March after the contract has expired. 2. Police Recruitment Plan – The commissioners reviewed the police department’s recruitment survey and plan. The commission discussed potential options for improving recruitment efforts. 3. IOI’s for Fire – The commission scheduled Individual Oral Interviews for Firefighters after the next meeting. Eligibility List 1. Firefighter Eligibility List will expire on 09/15/2019. 2. Fire Lieutenant Eligibility list scheduled to expire on 02/27/2020. 3. Police Officer Eligibility list Expires 02/21/2019 4. Police Sergeant Eligibility list scheduled to expire on 07/08/2021. Adjournment Commissioner Ehrke motioned to end the meeting, and Commissioner Kontek seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 6:54pm.
