AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-3-6-1 GENERAL PARKING REGULATIONS OF
THE VILLAGE CODE BY ADDING A PROVISION FOR TEMPORARY RESIDENT PERMIT
PARKING ONLY IN CERTAIN DESIGNATED AREAS
WHEREAS, on occasion, certain situations occur wherein there is an influx of parking on Village
streets due to circumstances beyond the Village's control; and
WHEREAS, due to the potential inherent danger that a substantial increase in the number of
vehicles parked creates in residential areas, especially with respect to children residing in those areas, the
Mayor and Board of Trustees have determined it necessary to establish temporary resident permit parking
only areas.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows:
Section 1: That Section 6-3-6-1 General Parking Regulations of the Village Code be amended by
adding thereto the following section:
F. Resident Permit Parking Only. No vehicle shall be parked on any street where signs are posted
stating resident permit parking only unless the vehicle has a valid permit designated by the Police
Department. Violators will be subject to having their vehicles towed to the Village's designated
towed vehicle facility. No vehicle will be released until all towing and applicable storage fees are
paid.
Section 2: That any person violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine of
not less than $50.00 nor more than $500.00 for each offense. In addition, all violators shall be subject to
having their vehicles being towed to a designated towed vehicle storage facility.
Section 3: That Special Executive Order No. 2020-02 is hereby authorized, ratified and approved.
Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby authorized to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
Section 5: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication according to law.
