HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 921 - 4/9/1974 - BUILDING ACTIVITIES CODE AMENDEDORDINANCE NO. 921 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13, BUILDING ACTIVITIES CODE OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook and DuPage Counties, Illinois, as follows: Section 1: That Chapter 13, Article III, Sections 13.301 paragraph 1 and 3, and 13.302 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village, be amended to read as follows: Amend paragraph 1 to read: 13.301 ADOPTION OF REGULATIONS: ONE AND TWO FAMILY DWELLING UNITS: The provisions of the One and Two Family Dwelling Code, 1971 Edition and 1973 Accumulative Supplement as prepared by the Nationally Recognized Model Codes, is hereby adopted as the regulations govern- ing the construction of detached one and two family units, their appurtenances and accessory structures, except "PART VI ELECTRICAL" of said Code is hereby deleted and replaced by Article IV of this Ordinance; and in Chapter II Building and Planning, One and Two Family Dwelling Code, 1971 Edition, and 1973 Accumulative Supple- ment, add new Section R-216: Amend paragraph 3 to read as follows: Three copies of said One and Two Family Dwelling Unit Code, 1971 Edition, and 1973 Accumulative Supplement are available for inspection and on file in the Office of the Village Clerk. Section 73.302 paragraph 1 shall be amended to read as follows: The 1970 Edition of the Basic Building Code and the 1973 Accumulative Supplement as prepared by the Building Officials and Code Administrators Int-rnational, Inc. is hereby adopted as the regulations governing the construction of all buildings and structures in the Village of Elk Grove Village, with the following exceptions as recorded below. Section 2: That Chapter 13, Article IV, Section 13.401, 13.403 paragraph (B), 13.411 of the Municipal Code be amended to read as follows: 13.401 SCOPE: The provisions of this article specify where fire protection systems shall be required in all buildings or structures or parts thereof hereafter erected, pursuant to B.O.C.A. Basic Building Code, and 1973 Accumulative Supplement, Article 12, Fire Protection Systems, Section 1200.0 thru 1212.0 13.403 paragraph (B) Delete existing and insert new paragraph B to read as follows: B. Residential: Each dwelling unit within one and two family buildings and within all multi -family buildings shall be provided with a minimum of one (1) approved smoke detector sensing visible or invisible particles for combustion. When actuated, the detector shall provide an alarm suit- able to warn the occupants within the individual dwelling unit. Senior Citizen Housing as defined in the Elk Grove Village Zoning Ordinance shall be provided with an approved heat and smoke detection system throughout the building and supervised as per 13.404. All multi -family dwellings over two stories in height or more than twenty (20) dwelling units above the first floor shall be provided with an approved heat and smoke detection system in all enclosed common hallways, corridors, meeting rooms and exitways. 13.411 APPEAL: Amend to read as follows: Appeals to this Article may be taken pursuant to the provisions and procedures of Section 127.1 of the 1970 B.O.C.A. Basic Building Code and the 1973 Accumulative Supplement thereto. Section 3: That Chapter 13, Article V: Section 13.515 of the Municipal Code be amended by adding thereto a new paragraph 300-22. (c) 300-22 (c) Excepting No. 3, in an area where approved heat and smoke detection system are installed, conventional wiring methods and materials may be used. - 2 - Section 4: That Chapter 13, Article VI: Sections 13.604 and 13.606 paragraph 1 of the Municipal Code be amended to read as follows: 13.604 ADOPTION OF REGULATIONS: The provisions of the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. B.O.C.A. Basic Plumbing Code Second Edition 1970 and the 1973 Accumulative Supplement thereto as amended by the Municipal Building Code is hereby adopted as the regulations governing the design, installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems installed in the Elk Grove Village. 13.606 THE BOCA BASIC PLUMBING CODE SECOND EDITION 1970: The following portions of the BOCA BASIC PLUMBING CODE Second Edition 1970 and the 1973 Accumulative Supplement thereto are hereby amended as follows: Section 5: That Chapter 13, Article VII, Section 13.706 and 13.707 of the Municipal Code be amended to read as follows: 13.706 ADOPTION OF REGULATIONS The provisions of the 1971 Edition of the B.O.C.A. Basic Mechanical Code and the 1973 Accumulative Supplement as approved by the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. as amended by Section 13 are hereby adopted as the regulations govening the design, installation, alteration, repair and maintenance of mechanical systems installed in Elk Grove Village. 13.707 be amended by deleting Appendix B and items thereunder listed. Section 6: Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this ordinance shall be fined not less than $5.00, not more than $500.00 for each offense, and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which the violation occurs or continues. Section 7: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, according to law. - 3 - PASSED this 9th day of April 1974.
