HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 858 - 6/12/1973 - POLICE DEPT/SALARIESORDINANCE NO. 858 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHIi1G SALARIES FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Comities of Cook and DuPage, Illinois: Section 1. That the salaries for Lieutenants, Sergeants, Patro.Zr,��?n and Cadets of the Police Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village shall he and are hereby established as foll cyws : Police Police Police Police Length of Service Lieutenant Sergeant Patrolman Cadet Pay in Elk Grove Village Per Month Per Month Per 19onth Per Month Step Less than one wear of experience in rank $1,214 $1,102 $ 907 $596 A One year but less than two years experience in rant: 1,321 1,198 985 626 B Two years but less than three years experience in rank 1,436 1,303 1,072 657 C Three years but less than four years experience in rank 1,166 690 D Four years but less than five years experience in rank 725 E Five years experience in rank 761 F Reference to "Length of Service" is ap-ricable only to Patrolman and Cadet. No person presently employed shall receive two (2) experience pay increases within one rank i„ any twelve (12) month period except upon specific authorization by the President and Board of Trustees. Section 2. A new Patrolman may be hired in pay step B if he has two (2) or more years of prior police, or equivalent, experience and only in instances when, in the judgment of the Fire and Police Commission, a candidate is exceptionally well qualified. Section 3. Within ten (10) drays from passage of this Ordinance, or at tho time of hiring a new policeman, the Fire and Police Commission of the Village shall ascertain and verify a police- man's prior police experience, .if any. Police experience .shall be comouted to the nearest month. Periods of more than fifteen (15) days shall he computed as a .full month's experience. Upon ascertainment of a policeman's experience, the Secretary of the Pire and Police Cc:mrussion shall transmit to the Village Treasurer the folloying information: A. Eame of the policeman. B. Effective date of employment with the Village of P11. Grove z]c, c Police Department. C. .Salary tmn.i'.Ier.,ary date. Duplicate copies of the foregoing shall be sent to the Chief of Police, the Village Nonage,r and the Village Clerk. Section_ 9. Except as otherwise provided herein, all pay increases rcc ulting dither directIq ox indirectly, from police ex1ariorce acquired as a member of the Police Department of the Village, .shall he effective on the first day of the pay period wherein falls the policeman's annual in -rank e;perience anniversary. Section 5. This Ordinance .shall be in full effect and according to law provided, ho:'evcr, experience pay increases granted present personnel shall be effective as of May 1, 1973.
