HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 519 - 3/12/1968 - BACK FLOW/BACK SIPHON PREV.ORDINANCE NO. -�_i / AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO BACK-FLOW AND BACK -SIPHON PREVENTION NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove village, Counties of Cook and Du Page, Illinois: Section 1: That Section 22A.111 of the Municipal Code of Elk Grove Village henceforth read as follows: 22A.111. All owners of real property upon which a building has been constructed or is sought to be constructed, and tenants thereof, are required to install and maintain approved checkvalve or back-flow and back -siphon prevention devices in the following instances: (a) Where the water sEq:vice main is two (2) inches or greater in size; (b) Commercial and industrial buildings where the building to which the water service is connected uses water in its process including but not limited to car washes and washerettes; (c) Where the service is to lawn sprinkler systems; (d) Where the building to which the water connection is made is equipped with a pump taking direct suction from the water service main. The location of all such devices shall be determined by the Water Department. A Model G-6 Hersey Sparling Division Beeco, or equal, is deemed an approved checkvalve or back-flow and back -siphon prevention device. Existing buildings subject to this regulation shall install said device on or before May 1, 1968. No new building shall be permitted to be constructed unless the aforementioned device is provided. Continued water service is conditioned upon compliance with the afore -regulations by customers affected by May 1, 1968. Section 2: Section 22A.111 of the Municipal Code of Elk Grove Village as designated prior to the enactment of this ordinance shall be designated hereafter as 22A .112 and shall read as follows: 22A.112. Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this Article I shall be fined not less than one ($1.00) dollar nor more than two hundred ($200) dollars for each offense and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues. Section 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law and the terms hereof.
