AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AN ELECTRICAL COMMISSION
AND DEFINING THE ?OWERS AND DUTIES FOR THE MEMBERS
THEREOF, AMENDING CHAPTER 7 OF THE ;IUNICIPAL CODE
OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE
NOW, THE-.LFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook
and DuPa.-e, Illinois:
Section 1. That Chapter 7 of the Municipal Code of Elk
Grove Village is hereby amended by adding thereto the following:
"Article IX, Electrical Commission.
"Section 7,901, Creation. An Electrical Commission for
the Village of Ell: Grove Village is hereby created ender the authority
of an Act of General Assembly of the State of Illinois entitled
"Revised Cities avid Villages Act," Illinois Revised Statutes3 Chapter
24, Division 37, Sections 11-37-2 and 11-37-3,
"Section 719021 Members Appointed, The said Electrical
Commission shall consist of five (5) members as follows: The
Superintendent of Electricity or the Chief Electrical Inspector
of the Village shall be a member and ex -officio Chairman of the
Commission; of the other four members) one shall be an electrical
contractor, one a journeyman electrician, one a representative of
an inspection bureau maintained by the Fire Underwriters, if such
s. representative resides in the Village, and if no such represent-
ative resides in the Village, then the Chief of the Fire Depart-
ment, and one a representative of an electricity supply company.
If there is no person residing in the Village of Elk Grove Village
who is qualified under any one of these descriptions, some other
person may be appointed to fill the position,
"All members of the Electrical Commission shall be ap-
pointed by the Village President with the advice and consent of
the Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village,
"The term of all members of the Cormnission shall be four
(!}) years. All vacancies occurring in the case of appointed mem-
bers of such commission shall be filled by appointment for the
remainder of the unexpired torm in the same manner as the origi-
nal appointments.
"All members and officers of said Commission shall serve
without compensation,
"Section 7.903. Powers. The said Commission shall have
the power:
"(a) To recommend to the Board of Trustees safe and
practical standards and specifications for the installation, al-
teration and use of electrical equipment designed to meet the
necessities and conditions of the Village of Elk Grove Village,
"(b) To recommend to the Board of Trustees reasonable
rules and regulations to govern the _issuance of permits by the
Electrical Inspection Department of the Village of Elk Grove
Village.
"(c) To recommend to the said Board of Trustees rea-
sonable fees to be paid for the inspection by the Inspection De-
partment of the Village of Elk Grove Village of all electrical
equipment installed or altered within the Village,
"(d) To keep informed of the latest developments in
connection with the installation, alteration and use of electrical
equipment and to recommend to said Board of Trustees from time
to time alterations or amendments in connection with the standards,
specifications, rules and regulations and fees then in force in
said Village of Elk Grove Village.
"(e) To exercise such other powers germane to the
powers granted by this Article as may be conferred by the Board
of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village;ii
Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in effect from
and after its passage and approval according to law.
