HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 64 - 6/23/1958 - FIREWORKS AND EXPLOSIVESOrdinance No. 64 AN ORDINANCE pertaining to fireworks and explosives BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illinois: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to keep or to expose for sale any fireworks, firecrackers, torpedoes, bombs, squibs, rockets, spinwheels, fire balloons, roman candles, sparklers, detonating canes or ammunition thereby, or any substances or articles of any explosive nature designed or intended to be used as fireworks within the Village of Elk Grove Village. Section 2. No fireworks, firecrackers, torpedoes, bombs, squibs, rockets, spinwheels, fire balloons, roman candles or other thing containing any substance of an explosive nature designed or intended to be used as fireworks shall be discharged or set off within the Village , provided, however, that a pyrotechnic display of fireworks may be given at any time when such display is licensed by the Village of Elk Crove Village and when given under the supervision of the licensee and the Chief of the Village Police or the Village Fire Marshal. Section 3. Any person wishing to secure a permit for a public display of fireworks shall make application therefor to the President of the Village, in writing, giving his name, place of residence and age. Such written application shall also state the place at which it is proposed to give such public display of fireworks, what experience the applicant has had, if any, in the discharge of fireworks, whether or not the applicatst is in full possession of all the usual and normal mental and physical faculties, and such application shall be sworn to by the applicant before a notary public or other officer authorized by law to administer oaths. Section 4. Any person violating or failing to comply with any of the provisions hereof shall be subject to a penalty of not less than Five Dollars ($ 5.00 ) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00 for each offense, and a separate offense shall be regarded as committed each day during which such person shall continue such violation. Section 5. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law. PASSED: this 23rd day of June , 1958.
