HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 12-93 - 2/23/1993 - INCOME TAX SURCHARGERESOLUTION NO. 12-93 A RESOLUTION ASKING GOVERNOR EDGAR TO SUPPORT MUNICIPALITIES - INCOME TAX SURCHARGE WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has shared with municipalities' needed revenues since 1989 with income tax surcharge proceeds; and WHEREAS, the temporary income tax surcharge for municipalities and counties will expire on June 30, 1993; and WHEREAS, municipalities have tremendous financial needs to directly serve the citizens of Illinois with local programs; and WHEREAS, municipalities have expended these revenues in a conservative, productive manner for their citizens; and WHEREAS, the Federal and State government continue to impose unfunded state mandates on local governments; and WHEREAS, this revenue is essential to sound municipal fiscal health; and WHEREAS, Governor Edgar will be delivering the State Budget Address on March 3, 1993; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois as follows: Section 1: That the Village of Elk Grove Village, does hereby request that the Governor Edgar support and endorse in the 1993 Budget Address the permanent extension of the income tax surcharge with the proceeds dedicated to municipalities. Section 2: That this Resolution be conveyed to Governor James Edaar, Senator Peter G. Fitzgerald, Senator James Philip, Representative Terry R. Parke and Representative Kathleen L. Wojcik. Section 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval as provided by law. VOTE: AYES: 6 PASSED this 23rd APPROVED this 23rd ATTEST: Patricia S.
