HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 2-92 - 1/14/1992 - SUPPORT LAKE CTY FOREST PRESERVE ACQUISRESOLUTION NO. 2-92 A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF LAKE COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT ACQUISITION OF PART OF FORT SHERIDAN BY THE VILLAGE OF ELK, GROVE VILLAGE WHEREAS, the future use of the Fort Sheridan property is of utmost concern to the residents of the Village of Elk Grove Village; and WHEREAS, the Forest Preserve District of Lake County has recently offered the U.S. Department of Defense $10 million for the northern portion of the Fort Sheridan property, an environmentally sensitive site which is on the shore of Lake Michigan and includes a variety of natural areas and a golf course; and WHEREAS, to date, the recommendations of the Fort Sheridan Commission have been largely ignored by the Department of Defense; and WHEREAS, the residents of the Village of Elk Grove Village would like to see as much of the Fort property as possible remain as open space for the use and enjoyment of generations to come; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois as follows: Section 1: That the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois, hereby expresses its support and approval of the plan by the Lake County Forest Preserve District to acquire a 250 acre parcel located at the northern end of the Fort Sheridan Military Reserve. Section 2: That the Village Clerk is authorized hereby to send certified copies of this Resolution to Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, Congressman John Porter, Senator Alan Dixon and Senator Paul Simon. Section 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. PASSED this 14th day of January , 1992.
