A TRIBUTE TO VERNA L. CLAYTON
WHEREAS, Verna L. Clayton has been a public servant for twenty years,
serving as Village Clerk and office manager from 1971 until her election in
1979 as President of the Village of Buffalo Grove; and
WHEREAS, Verna has promoted intergovernmental cooperation through her
service and active participation in many regional agencies; and
WHEREAS, Verna's leadership on the issue of Regional Transportation
includes service on the CATS Policy Committee, the Policy Committee on
State Aviation Plan and Airport Capacity Study, and is the current
Chairperson of the Northwest Municipal Conference's Transportation
Committee; and
WHEREAS, Verna is a Past President of the Northwest Municipal
Conference and was Chairperson of the Lake County Solid Waste Joint Action
Planning Agency; and
WHEREAS, Verna was President of the Illinois Municipal League 1989-90,
the first woman President in the League's 75 year history; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village values Verna's friendship and
has been the recipient of her insight and good judgement in regional
affairs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that on the occasion of Verna L.
Clayton's retirement as President of the Village of Buffalo Grove, the
Village President Charles J. Zettek and the Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, through this Resolution, do hereby extend
their "THANK YOU" to Verna L. Clayton for her outstanding service and
unselfish contributions in the field of Local and Intergovernmental Public
Administration.
