A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
IN THE SUBURBAN O'HARE COMMISSION
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village determined that the quality
of life and the value of public and private properties were diminished by
increasing noise from aircraft operations at O'Hare International Airport;
and
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village entered the Suburban O'Hare
Commission as a founding member in 1981 in order to represent citizens with
respect to issues of O'Hare expansion and noise control; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village has voted in each succeeding
year to remain a full member of the Suburban O'Hare Commission at a rate
of $1.00 per capita, per annum; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village and other SOC member
communities are impacted most heavily by airport noise; and
WHEREAS, the physical expansion of O'Hare by addition of new runways
will spread noise beyond currently affected areas, to outlying
communities; and
WHEREAS, other less affected communities (outlying communities) have
supported SOC efforts for a ban on new runways and responsible development
of a new airport for Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the expansion of SOC membership to outlying communities will
benefit SOC both financially and politically.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois
as follows:
Section 1: That the Village reaffirms its commitment to full
membership in the Suburban O'Hare Commission.

Section 2: That the Village supports inviting some outlying
communities to associate membership in the Suburban.0'Hare Commission at
$.50 per capita per annum for the remainder of Fiscal 1991 and four
succeeding fiscal years, ending September 1995.
Section 3: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval according to law.
