HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 24-88 - 4/26/1988 - COOK COUNTY SIGN ORDINANCERESOLUTION NO. 24-88 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE COOK COUNTY SIGN ORDINANCE WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village is a municipality within the State of Illinois and the Counties of Cook and DuPage; and WHEREAS, Article VII, Section 10, of the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and Chapter 127, paragraphs 741 through 748, of the Illinois Revised Statutes, authorize and encourage intergovernmental association and cooperation; and WHEREAS, the Village of Elk grove Village has adopted a legislative policy calling for the regulation of billboards to prohibit their indiscriminate erection and placement; and WHEREAS, the Cook County Board has before it an amendment to the County Zoning Ordinance Article 12, Signs, and Article 13, Administration and Enforcement; and WHEREAS, this amendment is the result of long meetings and negotiations extending over a six year period; and WHEREAS, the amendment as proposed will significantly alleviate the visual blight caused by billboard signs which are erected without due consid- eration to the impact on the surrounding areas; and WHEREAS, during the period of amendment preparation signs have been continually erected. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois as follows: Section 1. That the Village of Elk Grove Village voices its enthusiastic support of the amendment to the Cook County Zoning Ordinance regarding signs as sponsored by Commissioners Siebel and Hansen. Section 2. That the Village of Elk Grove Village urges the members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners to approve the proposed amendment as expeditiously as possible. Section 3. That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to the Cook County Board of Commissioners and the members of the Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals. Section 4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. VOTE: AYES: 6 NAYS: 0 ABSENT: 0 PASSED this 26th day of April , 1988.
