HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 6-75 - 1/28/1975 - EXCLUDE POPULATION FROM DUPAGE & COOK RESOLUTION NO. 6-75 A RESOLUTION EXCLUDING THE POPULATION OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE FROM THAT OF THE COUNTIES OF COOK AND DU PAGE FOR PURPOSES OF THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACT WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has passed into law the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, the primary objective of which is the development of viable urban communities and achievement of the objectives of decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunity; and WHEREAS, municipalities under 50,000 population are considered "non- entitled" communities and must secure funding on a competitive and discre� tionary basis; and WHEREAS, in order for Cook County or DuPage County to be eligible to receive funds through designation as urban counties they must represent a population of 200,000 or more; and WHEREAS, to obtain this minimum population Counties may assume the population of municipalities located within their boundaries which do not exclude their respective populations ; and WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village desires to withhold its population of 25,303 from that to be credited the Counties of Cook and DuPage. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees that the Village of Elk Grove Village desires not to join with some or all municipalities and the Counties of Cook and DuPage in participating in housing and community development activities under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.
