Douglas C. Stanley
WHEREAS: Sharon E. Stanley, 18 Months of Age, stopped breathing, and
WHEREAS: Douglas C. Stanley, 12 Years of Age, administered mouth-to-mouth
resuscitation to Sharon, his sister, and restored her breathing,
and,
WHEREAS: The above near tragic situation was turned into a remarkable life-
saving event within a three-minute period of time on February 9,
1973, at 271 Clearmont Drive in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Illinois:
Section One: That Barbara and David Stanley, parents of Sharon, Douglas,
James, Christine and Edward be commended for their efforts in
helping Douglas become a responsible young adult and in accept -
Ing his help in a moment of crisis.
Section Two: That Douglas C. Stanley be commended for his initiative and
skillful action in saving his sister, Sharon.
Section Three: That Douglas C. Stanley be commended for his mental alertness
in transferring knowledge and skill previously gained as a Boy
Scout into an individual act that saved a life.
Section Four: That Douglas C. Stanley is publicly complimented for his un-
selfish act of human kindness and the courage to use his skill
to save a life.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President and Board of Trustees do hereby
declare Douglas C. Stanley to be an Honored Citizen of Elk Grove Village and
express to him the heartfelt appreciation of the Village of Elk Grove Village
for his outstanding performance.
This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval according to law.
