RESOLUTION TO PARTICIPATE UNDER THE ILLINOIS FIRE PROTECTION
AND TRAINING ACT
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village is desirous of electing to
participate in the program under the Illinois Fire Protection and Training
Act, Public Act 77-1665, as enacted by the 77th General Assembly of the State
of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, in order that the Village be eligible for initial or continued
participation in the program, the law requires that before an individual may
commence regular employment as a fire fighter he must have been certified by
the Illinois Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education Commission as
having successfully completed an approved training course; and
Section 1 : The Village of Elk Grove Village intends to establish its
own school or to utilize some other school certified by said Commission for
the purpose of providing the training required under said Act:
Section 2: That the Village of Elk Grove Village hereby elects to
participate in the program provided for in the Illinois Fire Protection
Training Act.
Section 3: That before an individual may commence regular employment
as a fire fighter he must have been certified by the Illinois Fire Protection
Personnel Standards and Education Commission, as having successfully completed
an approved training course as provided in said Act.
Section 4: That such basic training must be completed by the trainee
within his probationary period of twelve (12) months.
Section 5: That the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are hereby
instructed and directed to make the necessary amendments to the Personnel Rules ,
the Manual of Rules of the Elk Grove Village Fire Department, and Rules of
said Board of Fire and Police Commissioners in order to require that any
person appointed to the Fire Department of the Village of Elk Grove Vil_, s
shall not become a regular member of the Elk Grove Village Fire Department
unless and until he shall have completed, pursuant to said Illinois Fire 1
Protection and Training Act, the approved training course within 12 months
of the date of his initial employment.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED.by the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook & DuPage, State of
Illinois , that this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and i
after its passage and approval according to law.
