HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 82-72 - 10/10/1972 - BLDG PERMITS/GUIDE LINES RESOLUTION N0, 82-72 A RESOLUTION PROVIDING GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF BUILDING PERMITS AND LAND DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village has adopted and is enforcing the B.O.C.A. Building Code,and WHEREAS, that Code prohibits any person, firm or corporation from erecting, constructing, enlarging, altering, repairing, improving, moving or demolishing any building or structure without first obtaining a separate building permit for each building or structure from the Village of Elk Grove Village, and WHEREAS, under the direction of the Village Manager, the Building Commissioner must examine all plans and specifications for proposed construction when application is male to him for a building permit, and WHEREAS , undar the direction of the Village Manager, the Village Engineer must examine all land development and site plans. NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village as follows: 1 . That the Village of Elk Grove Village when reviewing applications for build- ing permits, including the plans and specifications for the proposed construction, will revie.N, all building permit applications to determine if the proposed const- ruction is consistent with the need to minimize flood damage. 2. That the Village of Elk Grove Village shall review all building permit applications to determine if the site of the proposed construction is reasonally safe from flooding and to make recommendations for construction in all locations which have flood hazards. 3. That the Village of Elk Grove Village in reviewing all applications for construction in flood hazard locations within the Village shall require that any such proposed construction must: (a) Be designed and anchored to prevent the flotation, collapse or lateral movement of the structure or portions of the structure due to flooding. (b) Use construction materials and utility equipment that are resistant to flood damage. (c) Use construction methods and practices that will minimize flood damage. (d) Provide adequate drainage and protection measures to reduce exposure to flood hazards. - 1 - (e) Locate public utilities and facilities in such a manner as to minimize or eliminate flood damage. 4. That the Village of Elk Grove Village in reviewing subdivision appli- cations shall require: - (a) All proposed developments to be consistent with the need to minimize flood damage. (b) Adequate drainage and protective measures to be provided to reduce exposure to flood hazards. (c) Adequate drainage and protective measures to be provided so as not to increase the exposure to flood hazards of adjacent lands. (d) All public utilities and facilities to be located and constructed to minimize or eliminate flood damage. NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall be in full force and effect from the date the Village of Elk Grove Village is declared to be eligible for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program.
