HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION - 20-64 - 5/28/1964 - NEOPRENE JOINT GASKETS/ADOPT SPECSRESOLUTION NO. 20-64 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING SPECIFICATIONS FOR MOLDED NEOPRENE JOINT GASKETS FOR CAST IRON SOIL PIPE AND FITTINGS NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of Illinois: Section 1. That the specifications for Molded Neoprene Joint Gaskets for Cast Iron Soil Pipe and Fittings, copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, are hereby adopted and made a part of the Municipal Code of the Village of Elk Grove Village. Section 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval according to law. PASSED this 28 day of May, 1964 APPROVED this 28 day of May, 1964 James R. JYI(.9 Gaskets molded from a neoprene compound may be used on soil pipe or fittings having hubs and plain ends made to commercial standard CS 188-59 pro4id"ed said gaskets meet the following Physical Property Requirements: PROPERTY TEST METHOD ACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE Tensile Strength ASTM D412 1,500 psi minimum Elonggtidn at break ASTM D412 25q minimum Durometer A Hardness ASTM D676 70 - 5 points Tear Strength ASTM D624- Die C 200 lbs./in., minimum Compression Set ASTM D395 -Method B. 25% Maximum (22 hrs. at 1580 F) Oil Resistance ASTM D471 75,%volume change (immersed in ASTM maximum #3 oil for 70 hrs. at 2120 F) Ozone Resistance ASTM D1149 No cracks at 2X (sample under 20% magnification strain exposed to 150 pphm ozone for 100 hrs. at 1000 F) Oven Aging ASTM D573 Tensile strength decreases, Specimen per maximum 15% paragraph 5 (b) Elongation decrease, (96 hr. @ 1580 F) maximum 20% Hardness change, maximum 10 points If the plumbing contractor elects to use Neoprene Joint Gasket, he shall furnish the Building Department of the Village of Elk Grove Village with an affidavit from the manufacturer of the gaskets guaran- teeing that the gaskets furnished will meet the above requirements. All joints shill be tight when complete and shall meet the same hydrostatic test as required by the Village of Elk Grove for other types of joints in similar locations or class of work.
