WHEREAS, the City of Chicago has requested the Department of Aeronautics of the
State of Illinois to adopt airport zoning regulations for Chicago -O'Hare
International Airport, and
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago prepared and submitted certain airport zoning regula-
tions which it proposed that the Department of Aeronautics adopte and
MEREAS, said proposed zoning regulations would seriously affect the use and
development of property within a ten (10) mile radius of Chicago-O'Fare
International Airport, which area encompasses the corporate boundaries
of the Village of Elk Grove Village, and
WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village is in favor of lawful and reasonable
regulations designed to promote the safety of the public in the use of
Chicago -O'Hare International Airport and the safety of persons residing
and working in proximity thereto; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Elk Grove Village the proposed regulations in their present form impose
unreasonable restrictions on the use and development of property in the
area described therein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESODIED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, Counties of Cook and DuPage:
1. That the President and Board of Trustees for the reasons hereinabove
set forth, do hereby evidence disapproval of the aforesaid zoning
regulations proposed by the City of Chicago and object to the adoption
by the Department of Aeronautics of the State of Illinois of said
regulations in their present form.
2. That the Village of Elk Grove Village, which is a member of the
Suburban Municipal Council on O'Hare Field Zoning Regulations,
joins with said Council in the request that the Department of
Aeronautics consult with said Council in the formulation and
drafting of any zoning regulations for Chicago -O'Hare International
Airport or, that in the alternatives any action with respect to said
zoning regulations be deferred for a period of six (6) months to
enable the Council to make the necessary studies, and to present
findings and recommendations to the Department.
3. That certified copies of this Resolution be forwarded immediately
to the Director of the Department of Aeronautics of the State of
Illinois, and to the Honorable Otto Kerner, Governor of the State
of Illinois.
