RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RESULTS
OF A SPECIAL, ELECTION HELD ON
JULY 18, 1959, FOR VOTING "FOR" OR
"AGAINST" A ., 10 PER CENT TAX FOR A
FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY, AND ELECTING
SIX (6) LIBRARY DIRECTORS, DECLARING
THE RESULTS AND FINDING FACTS AS
TO NOTICE AND BALLOT,

WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Elk Grove Village, Cook County, Illiaois, did on the 25th day of May,.
1959, pursuant to petition of more than fifty (50) legal voters filed with
the Village Clerk, adopt an ordinance to submit to the voters thereof to
be held at the special election to be held on July 18, 1959, in said Village
to vote upon the following proposition:
For a . 10 per centtax for a free public library
Against a . 10 per cent tax for a free public library
and, to elect six (6) library directors, two to serve until 1961, two to
serve until 1963, and two to serve until 1965; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said petition and ordinance and the
statute in such case made and provided, the Village Clerk caused notices
of said election to be published not less than fifteen (15) nor more than
thirty (30) days before the date of said special election in the Elk Grove
Herald, a newspaper having a ,general circulation in the Village of Elk
Grove Village, (there being no newspaper printed or published in said
Village) copy of which said notices and publisher's certificate of pub-
lishing same has been presented to and filed with this Board and is in
words and figures as follows, to-wit:

said proposition at the special election and the statute in such case made

WHEREAS, a specimen ballot was duly published is the Elk
Grove Herald, a newspaper of general circulation in the Village of
Elk Grove Village, (there being no newspaper published in the Village)
within the time provided by statute, all as appears from the certificate
of publication hereto attached,
and,
WHEREAS, the election officials designated for that purpose have
conducted said election in the manner and form required by law and having
filed the returns thereof with the Village Clerk;
NOW. THEREFORE„ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND
BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF ELK GROVE VI.LL&GE, COOT{
COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows-
Section L That the special election held in and for thie Villa E{e on
July 18, 1959, was held in the manner and form as required by taw.
Section 2. That One Hundred Seventy-One (171) legal voters atraeid
special election of said Village of Elk Grove Village voted on the following
proposition:
For a . 10 per cent tax for a free public library
Against a . 10 per cent tax for a free public library
as follows.

Section 4. That as a result of, said election the President and
Board of Trustees hereby find and declare that the proposition "For e
10 per cent tax for a free public library" having received ai majority
of all of the votes cast at said election, the same be and it is hereby
declared carried, and this Board ie thereby authorized to levy a , 10
per cent tax for a free public library,
Section 5. That James J. Steffen and Dorothy T. Monetti,:
having received the highest number of votes cast be and each of t}ssar,
is hereby declared duly elected to the office of .Library Director oftl
Free Public Library of the Village of Elk, Grose Village, Cools County,
Illinois„ to serve for the term of two (2) years, expiring in 19616 as
is by law provided.
Section 6> That Helen C. Stafene3 and Harry R, Mikkelsen,
having received the highest number of votes cast be and each of them
is hereby dec!ared duly elected to the office of Library Director of the
Free Public Library of the Village of Elk Grove Village„ Cook County,
Illinois, to serve for The term of four (4) years„ expiring in 1965, ae,
is by law provided.
Section 7. That Katbryn Mary Fleming and Robert F. Fleming,
having received the highest number of votes cast be and each of them
is hereby declared duly elected to the office of Library Director of the
Free Public Library of the V:Ulage of Elk Grove Village, Cook County„
Illinois, to serve for the term of six (6) years, expiring in 1965, as
is by law provided,
