HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE - 3174 - 6/17/2008 - PROHIBIT PARKING IN TEMP NO PARKING DESIGNATED AREASORDINANCE NO. 3174 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION "6-3-6-1 GENERAL PARKING REGULATIONS OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF ELK GROVE VILLAGE TO PROHIBIT PARKING IN TEMPORARY NO PARKING DESIGNATED AREAS WHEREAS, in certain emergency situations such as Police Department or Fire Department responses to calls or Public Works responses to water or sewer main disruptions and the like, it may be necessary for the Police Department to designate Temporary No Parking locations to facilitate said responses; and WHEREAS, in addition, a similar need for designated Temporary No Parking locations is necessary for certain Village functions such as the Annual Parade and the International Bicycle Race wherein the parking of vehicles on designated. routes would be detrimental to the planned function; and WHEREAS, if the owner of any vehicle parked in a Temporary No Parking location cannot be contacted, it will be necessary for the Village to relocate any such vehicle to a designated relocation center. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, Illinois as follows: Section 1: That Section 6-3-6-1 General Parking Regulations be amended by adding thereto a Paragraph E which shall read as follows: E Temporary No Parking/Relocation - Temporary No Parking locations may be designated by the Police Department in certain emergency situations such as Fire Department or Police Department responses, Public Works responses to water or sewer emergencies and the like, or when streets need to be cleared for Village events such as the Annual Parade and the Annual International Bicycle Race. Vehicles parked iri violation of the Temporary No Parking designation may be relocated by the Police Department or their designee to designated relocation centers. There shall be no cost for such relocation to the owner of the vehicle provided that the vehicle is reclaimed within twenty-four (24) hours of the relocation, otherwise a storage fee may be imposed in the amount posted by the Police Department for each day the vehicle remains unclaimed. Section 2: That the Village Clerk is authorized to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form. Section 3: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet as provided by law.
