ELK GROVE FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND
NOVEMBER 1, 1993
A meeting of the Firemen's pension fund was held on Monday,
November 1, 1993 in the Fire Dept. Administrative Offices,
901 Brantwood Ave. The meeting was called to order by
President Harvey R. Speiden at 7 : 08 P.M.
ROLL CALL
On Roll Call the following members were present; Harvey R.
Speiden, Patricia S. Smith, Hilda H. Ingebrigtsen, James D.
MacArthur, Joseph Gardner III, and Patrick L. Beck. Absent
were; Dennis J. Gallitano, George P. Knickerbocker, and
Jerry Norris . Mr. Richard J. Puchalski, Attorney at Law,
Pension Fund Legal Counsel was present.
MINUTES
Motion by Patricia Smith, seconded by James MacArthur to
accept the minutes of July 19 , 1993 as written and dispense
with their reading. Motion passed unanimously.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer H. Ingebrigtsen submitted a Balance Sheet,Schedule
of Investments, and a Disbursement Register of the Firemen's
Pension Funds of September 30 , 1993 . She reviewed all three
with the Board Members and explained their contents .
The Treasurer H. Ingebrigtsen submitted a chart
showing the Pension Fund's Investment Performance for
year end April 1993 showing a 7 . 36% yield. Members in
attendance felt that the performance of the Fund was
excellent in light of the present economy. Motion by Joseph
Gardner III , seconded by Patrick L. Beck to accept the
Treasurer's Report, certify the Disbursement Register and
place it, the Schedule of Investments, and Balance Sheet on
file with the Minutes . Motion passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
We received letters from Dr. Timothy J. Bresnhan regarding
the physicals for Fund Applicants Carla Penn and John Kelly.
Much discussion followed regarding specific areas of the
physicals which we would like to have addressed during the
normal examination of applicants . It was mutually decided
that we would draft specific concerns that should be
addressed during physicals for new applicants and discuss
the same at the next Board Meeting for final approval prior
to any new physicals being given.

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP
The report of the physicals for new applicants , John J.
Kelly and Carla A. Penn were reviewed by all present
members . A discussion followed regarding the Doctor's
physical given. A motion was made by James MacArthur,
seconded by Patricia Smith to approve Carla A. Penn and John
J. Kelly into the Pension Fund subject to the receipt of a
proper Application to the Fund and all necessary
documentation. Motion passed unanimously.
APPLICATION FOR BENEFITS
The Board has received an application for benefits for an In
The Line Of Duty Disability Pension, Section 4-110. 0
(rev. 1-14-91 ) , from Ronald Ternberg. A discussion ensued
regarding applications for disabilities and the
responsibility of the Board on actions which should be
taken. The Pension Board Counsel , Richard Puchalski ,
recommended that we have disability applicants see at least
one Pension Board Doctor to determine disability. Ron
Ternberg has an appointment to see a cardiac specialist whom
was suggested by Mr. Puchalski .
The doctor's report will be forwarded to the Board.
NEW BUSINESS
A discussion brought up regarding a pension seminar offered
by the Illinois Professional Firefighter's Association. A
motion was made By Joseph Gardner III, seconded by Patrick
Beck. Motion passed unanimously. It was brought up that the
annual report was filed with the Illinois Department of
Insurance and a copy was placed in our files. A question was
posed regarding Kenneth Rzesutko's upcoming effective date
of pension benefits. A motion was made by Joseph
Gardner III , seconded by Patricia Smith to authorize
benefits to commence on 12-25-93 for retiree Kenneth
Rzesutko in the amount previously stated in the August 13 ,
1990 Minutes . Motion passed unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Joseph Gardner III , seconded by Patrick Beck to
adjourn. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at
8 : 24 P.M.
