Rich Keyworth was present at the meeting to ask the Youth Commission to participate in
the Rotaryfest by acting as greeters. Participation would give them some visibility as a
Commission and would help the Rotary Club by counting people.
The Commission agreed to help out. Chris will come up with a sign-up sheet for the
Commissioners.
The times that the Youth Commissioners assistance are needed are:
Wednesday 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Thursday 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Friday 6:00 p.m. — 11:00 p.m.
Saturday When Parade Ends until 11:00 p.m.
Sunday Noon until 10:00 p.m.
Chris will give Rich Keyworth a schedule: about 1 week before the Rotaryfest advising
him which Commissioners will work when.
The Youth Commission will be sponsoring a float in the parade. Chris and Barb have
secured a flatbed truck. The Commission discussed possible themes for the float. Barb
and Chris will come up with some drawings for ideas.

Marian contacted Beth Madden about a display for the Commission at the Library. Both
will be calling Chris to make arrangements to use the display.
The Commission selected shirts that they would like to order to wear at various events.
The back of the shirt will have the initials:
E.G.V.Y.C.
Besides standing for the Elk Grove Village Youth Commission, the initials stand for
"Everyone Gains a Vision From Youth Commitment".
The Commissioners would also like to have name tags made.
Participation with the Lions on a Fourth of July activity was discussed. Barb and Rich
Keyworth will look into different possibilities.
Pat discussed changing the Youth Commission's budget to a higher amount to allow the
Commission to participate and fund more activities. Chris and Pat will discuss the issue
at greater length
It was decided to reschedule the Youth Summit for early fall rather than in May. This
will give the Commission time to get involved in more activities and have more
experiences to share with other Commissioners.
Chris will investigate another fund-raising event for the Commission.
Marian suggested that the Commission sponsor a community talent show this summer
using the Village Green property. This will be discussed in greeter detail at the next
Commission Meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
The next meeting of the Youth Commission will be on Saturday, April 10, 1999 at 8:00
a.m. in the Council Chambers.
