HomeMy WebLinkAboutYOUTH COMMISSION - 05/01/1999 - MINUTES YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING SATURDAY, MAY 1, 1999 COUNCIL CHAMBERS In Attendance: May Allen Tom Cooke Barb Lahtinen Brittany Marques Marian Noehre Chris Prochno Absent: Pat Feichter David Gaeger Joe Gaeger Amy Herrick Brian Keyworth Ashley Taylor Mike Urban The Commission talked about and finalized the tee-shirt order. The entire Park and Village Board will get shirts too. Tom will obtain sizes for the Park Board, Mary Allen reported on Club Lightening. It was opened on April 30, 1999 to junior high school students. They had a tremendous turnout. This was the last date that the club will be open until fall. When it reopens in the fall, it will be for junior high school aged students. Barb Lahtinen has secured a flat bed truck and driver for the Youth Commission float at no charge. Marian volunteered lumber and her husband to work on the float. Chris will call the Commission about dates for working on the float. Splash Parties The dates for the Splash Parties are June 25"', July 16'x', and August 13"i. The parties are for students age 12 through 19 years old. The parties will run from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Suicide Prevention Week The Commission talked about possible activities for suicide prevention week. Chris will talk to the junior high schools and high schools and Talkline and see if anyone would like to sponsor an activity with the Commission. She will also check the internet address for possible ideas and activities. Creek Cleanua Chris will call Nick Nicola for information on the Creek Cleanup on June 5, 1999. There will be no Youth Commission meeting on that date. A new telephone phone list of Commission members is being included with the distribution of these minutes. Villa¢e Green The Commission is still interested in sponsoring some sort of activity using the Village Green.
