MEETING MINUTES

Call to Order:
Anne Feichter, Acting Vice Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
New Members:
Therese Anzsinis and Jim Morill were introduced as new Board members to take their
oath of office at the next Village Board meeting on September 26, 2000.
Action Items•
After a correction of the August meeting on page 2, Volunteer Committee report—'Tet"
changed to "Peg" Vallillo, the minutes were approved after a motion by Mary Hale and a
second by Sal Pace.
Coordinator's Report: In Packet
On September 9, 2000,three (3)houses in Elk Grove Village were painted during the
Paint-a-Thon.
On Tuesday, September 26h Beverly will appear on Channel 6 to talk about Make A
Difference Day and the PADS Walk.
A Food Drive will be held during the week of October 23`d—27k. The pick-up date will
be October 30`n
The Youth Employment Service (Y.E.S.) program has a past history which is not good.
Beverly announced that she discussed the problem with Jim Arey from Elk Grove High
School. Jim suggested making a promotional video, more attractive brochures, and to
present them to junior high school students. A motion to let Jim proceed with these ideas
was made by Tony Kees, seconded by Peg Vallillo and passed by the Board.
Jane Sloger, the Village Nurse has suggested to Beverly that the Village have a senior
advisory committee. A discussion followed. A previous senior advisory council was
discontinued because of lack of ideas. It was suggested that several agencies in the
village serve the seniors and that a meeting of all these agencies could explore what they
each offer, where they may overlap and how best to communicate the information.
Committee Reports:
Summer Activities Committee: Given by Mary Hale
No Report. Except that the Farmer's Market will close in October. There was a
discussion about the Garage Sale in the Village to be held next Spring.
Volunteer Committee: Given by Anne Feichter
No Report. A meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at
8:00 a.m.
Newcomers Committee: Given by Beverly Jaszczurowski
Beverly reported the committee has met once. We are working on gathering information
that is already available for newcomers. We will then look at whether we want to add to
it, change it, or develop something entirely new.
New Business:
Mary Hale announced that walkers and workers are needed for the PADS Walk on Make
A Difference Day.
Old Business:
None
Trustee Liaison Report:
Nancy Czarnik announced that at the next Village Board meeting to be held on
September 26s', Ruth Guest, a long time Community Service Board member will be
honored and she requested that present Board members attend the ceremony.
Announcements:
The next Community Service Board meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on October 19, 2000.
Adjournment:
A motion for adjournment was made by Nancy Czarnik and seconded by Mary
K Paliganoff. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
