RESOLUTION NO. 24-88 <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO <br />THE COOK COUNTY SIGN ORDINANCE <br />WHEREAS, the Village of Elk Grove Village is a municipality within <br />the State of Illinois and the Counties of Cook and DuPage; and <br />WHEREAS, Article VII, Section 10, of the Constitution of the State of <br />Illinois, and Chapter 127, paragraphs 741 through 748, of the Illinois <br />Revised Statutes, authorize and encourage intergovernmental association and <br />cooperation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Village of Elk grove Village has adopted a legislative <br />policy calling for the regulation of billboards to prohibit their indiscriminate <br />erection and placement; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cook County Board has before it an amendment to the County <br />Zoning Ordinance Article 12, Signs, and Article 13, Administration and <br />Enforcement; and <br />WHEREAS, this amendment is the result of long meetings and negotiations <br />extending over a six year period; and <br />WHEREAS, the amendment as proposed will significantly alleviate the <br />visual blight caused by billboard signs which are erected without due consid- <br />eration to the impact on the surrounding areas; and <br />WHEREAS, during the period of amendment preparation signs have been <br />continually erected. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustees <br />of the Village of Elk Grove Village, Counties of Cook and DuPage, State of <br />Illinois as follows: <br />Section 1. That the Village of Elk Grove Village voices its enthusiastic <br />support of the amendment to the Cook County Zoning Ordinance regarding signs <br />as sponsored by Commissioners Siebel and Hansen. <br />Section 2. That the Village of Elk Grove Village urges the members of <br />the Cook County Board of Commissioners to approve the proposed amendment as <br />expeditiously as possible. <br />
