RESOLUTION 11-73 <br />Douglas C. Stanley <br />WHEREAS: Sharon E. Stanley, 18 Months of Age, stopped breathing, and <br />WHEREAS: Douglas C. Stanley, 12 Years of Age, administered mouth-to-mouth <br />resuscitation to Sharon, his sister, and restored her breathing, <br />and, <br />WHEREAS: The above near tragic situation was turned into a remarkable life- <br />saving event within a three-minute period of time on February 9, <br />1973, at 271 Clearmont Drive in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the <br />Village of Elk Grove Village, Illinois: <br />Section One: That Barbara and David Stanley, parents of Sharon, Douglas, <br />James, Christine and Edward be commended for their efforts in <br />helping Douglas become a responsible young adult and in accept - <br />Ing his help in a moment of crisis. <br />Section Two: That Douglas C. Stanley be commended for his initiative and <br />skillful action in saving his sister, Sharon. <br />Section Three: That Douglas C. Stanley be commended for his mental alertness <br />in transferring knowledge and skill previously gained as a Boy <br />Scout into an individual act that saved a life. <br />Section Four: That Douglas C. Stanley is publicly complimented for his un- <br />selfish act of human kindness and the courage to use his skill <br />to save a life. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President and Board of Trustees do hereby <br />declare Douglas C. Stanley to be an Honored Citizen of Elk Grove Village and <br />express to him the heartfelt appreciation of the Village of Elk Grove Village <br />for his outstanding performance. <br />This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and <br />after its passage and approval according to law. <br />PASSED this 27th day of February , 1973 <br />APPROVED this 27th <br />ATTEST: <br />Village Clerk <br />day of February , 1973 <br />Village President <br />
